Take Pride in America

HistoriCorps is a new preservation initiative modeled after community service programs such as the Civilian Conservation Corps and AmeriCorps. Through a partnership formed by Colorado Preservation, Inc., the United States Forest Service, and Volunteers for Outdoor Colorado, HistoriCorps will work to engage volunteers and professionals to preserve, rehabilitate and restore historic structures on public lands.

This public-private partnership strives to greatly increase the capacity to achieve preservation projects whileteaching preservation maintenance and traditional building skills, advancing sustainable technology forhistoricbuildings, and creating jobs for young adults. To learn more about the mission of HistoriCorps, visit our new website: www.historicorps.org.

HistoriCorps has several projects scheduled for thefuture months, ranging from outbuilding rehabilitation to construction of a solar energy shed, all of which can be viewed at: http://www.historicorps.org/projects.html.
These projects will stress the importance of maintaining the character and integrity of historic places through historically sympathetic and appropriate repairs, rehabilitations and rehabilitations. Additionally, projects will provide valuable learning opportunities for preservation training under the supervision of master craftsmen. If you are interested in becoming a volunteer for HistoriCorps projects, registration is available at:  http://www.volunteeroutdoors.net (search “historic preservation” interest area).

HistoriCorps is excited about the upcoming projects and volunteer opportunities and encourages anyone interested in learning more about how they can get involved to contact: info@historicorps.org.
