Celebrating 25 Years...
by Susan Livingston and Patrick Eidman
In 1984 an
idea was born
during a small
meeting in the
historic
Hotel
Boulderado... ...to create a statewide organization dedicated
to the preservation of Colorado’s historic
built environment. Advocacy for historic
and cultural resources was the goal for
those founding members who originally
thought to name the new organization
Coloradoans for Preservation. By the time
the first official meeting was adjourned,
Colorado Preservation, Incorporated
was off and running and its inaugural
year was a quest for structure, direction
and a singularly recognized mission, “To
promote and advance historic preservation
throughout advocacy, and promotion
programs.” Twenty-five years later,
Colorado Preservation celebrates its silver
anniversary and two and a half decades of
successful events and programs.
