Thank you for planning to attend the 2016 Saving Places Conference! The event is quickly approaching and we want to make sure you have all the information you need to fully enjoy this exciting annual event!

Special Announcement! Please arrive early on Thursday, Feb. 4 for our plenary kickoff with Governor Hickenlooper and keynote speaker Kimber Lanning. We will begin promptly at 8:00 a.m. in the Four Seasons Ballroom. 

Date: Wednesday, Feb. 3 – Saturday, Feb. 6

Location: Colorado Convention Center – 700 14th St., Denver, CO 80202

Transportation: If you are traveling to the Conference from outside of Denver we have some ideas for easy transportation into the city.

  • Bustang – affordable and comfortable motor coach travel along I-25 between Fort Collins and Colorado Springs and I-70 between Denver and Glenwood Springs.
  • RTD Lightrail 
  • Amtrak

Parking Info:

The Colorado Convention Center provides access to a 1,000 space onsite covered parking garage. The garage provides access to the Colorado Convention Center and the Denver Performing Arts Complex (DPAC). The garage is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week to ALL visitors and guests attending ANY event or business in the downtown area.
Directions to the Parking Garage:

North-Bound Speer Directions

  • Driving via Northbound Speer Boulevard, pass Stout Street and make your first right before Champa Street. The Convention Center Parking Garage has its own designated Right Turn lane leading into the parking garage. The Parking Garage is designated by the Downtown Denver Parking logo. West-Bound Champa Directions

  • Driving via Westbound Champa Street, just before Speer Boulevard, it will be a left hand turn from Champa Street that merges into the garage entry drive lane from Speer Boulevard. Please use caution when yielding to traffic entering the garage from Speer Boulevard. The Parking Garage is designated by the Downtown Denver Parking logo. Attire: We recommend business casual with comfortable shoes for walking around the Convention Center or attending tours.

Preservation for a Changing Colorado

The 2017 update, Preservation for a Changing Colorado, resulted from a partnership between Colorado Preservation and History Colorado and Colorado Preservation, Inc. Prepared by Clarion Associates, the new report and accompanying website document the economic benefits of rehabilitation projects, analyzes property values and neighborhood stability in local historic districts, and summarizes the increasing impact of heritage tourism, private preservation development and the success of Colorado’s Main Street program. In a key finding, researchers found that for every $1 million spent on historic preservation in Colorado leads to $1.03 million in additional spending, 14 new jobs, and $636,700 in increased household incomes across the state! The 2017 report also considers the important role preservation plays in helping Coloradans provide new spaces for creative communities and co-working, create and sustain meaningful places, respond to the state’s changing demographics, and address climate concerns.
